Program Overview

Our program recruits recent college graduates and exposes them to a variety of technical career opportunities available within Refining & Supply. Through multiple assignments engineers will develop a broad base of experience early in their career.

Interview Schedule

Engineering developmental assignments have a minimum term of 18 to 24 months for each assignment. Participants are expected to complete multiple assignments to develop a broad base of experience in a variety of technical positions. The initial assignment will begin immediately upon hire.

Potential Positions

One purpose in providing developmental assignments is to provide engineers with the opportunity to experience the different cultures and business practices across our business unit and to enable each engineer to develop a broad base of experience through work assignments in a variety of technical positions. Potential assignments could be based in Northeast Refining (NER) which is comprised of three refineries or our Mid-Continent Refining Unit (MCRC) which has one refinery in Toledo, Ohio and one refinery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Assignments are determined by Refining & Supply’s management team and are monitored on a regularly scheduled basis. In reviewing developmental assignments the needs of specific departments are considered along with management's commitment to ensure meaningful assignments that will develop the participant's technical skills and understanding of Sunoco's business.

Each Refining & Supply Engineer will have a number of technical peers who will be available to provide guidance and feedback through out each developmental assignment. We have found that that our engineers develop close working relationships with all members of our technical community and these relationship provide support for both technical and non-technical items that surface in the course of the daily activities.
