MARSEC Directive
Maritime Security Directive, an instruction issued by the Commandant or his/her delegee, mandating specific security measures for vessels and facilities that may be involved in a transportation security incident.

MARSEC Level
Maritime Security Level, the level set to reflect the prevailing threat environment to the marine elements of the national transportation system, including ports, vessels, facilities and critical assets and infrastructure located on or adjacent to waters subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S.

MARSEC Level 1
Maritime Security Level 1, the level for which minimum appropriate protective measures must be maintained at all times.

MARSEC Level 2
Maritime Security Level 2, means the level for which appropriate additional protective security measures shall be maintained for a period of time as a result of a heightened risk of a transportation security incident.

MARSEC Level 3
Maritime Security Level 3, the level for which further protective security measures shall be maintained for a limited period of time when a transportation security incident is probable or imminent, although it may not be possible to identify the specific target.

Master
The holder of a valid license that authorizes the individual to serve as a master, operator or person in charge of the related vessel. For the purposes of this subchapter, Master also includes the person in charge of a MODU, and the operator of an uninspected towing vessel.

Material Safety Data Sheet, a sheet with summary information regarding individual chemicals.

Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether (organic compound, component of unleaded gasoline)

Mobile Treatment Unit
