SUNOCO SUPPLIER DIVERSITY PROGRAM

Our mission is to establish, develop, and maintain strong relationships with a diverse supplier base that will help Sunoco, Inc. meet its goal of providing quality products and services to our customers, as well as achieving growth in the marketplace. Sunoco, Inc. formally initiated its Supplier Diversity Program in 1971 to support local minority- and women-owned businesses and enhance the competitive bidding process. Diversifying the supplier base provides business opportunities to traditionally underused suppliers and enhances competition among suppliers, thus resulting in increasingly innovative products and services, improved reliability, and lower costs.

DIVERSITY REQUIREMENTS

Sunoco tracks supplier diversity information via an online portal available to all suppliers. After a supplier enters contact, business, and diversity information into the portal, the Sunoco Supplier Diversity Liaison verifies that the information is received and requests a certificate if required.

Sunoco’s Procurement Department identifies business opportunities that would benefit from competitive bidding and works to include diverse suppliers in that bidding. As procurement requests are identified, Buyers search the portal to find appropriate bidders and ensure that they meet prequalification requirements. Once prequalified, the Buyer issues a Request for Bid or Request for Quote.
